ISLAMABAD, APR 13: The disruption caused by the pandemic was the ultimate test case for Pakistan's digital ambitions. As the country went into lockdown last year, Pakistan is turned to smartphones, tablets and laptops to work, play, study and stay connected.
For all intents and purposes, the country's digital ecosystem passed with flying colours, underlining Pakistan Vision 2025 and the Digital policy of Pakistan, which envisions a $20 billion ICT industry by2025.
But the digital trends to emerge from the pandemic warrant a reassessment of the ICT talent development pipeline. Like elsewhere in the world, universities in Pakistan must evolve their teaching and operational models to cope with the demands of an increasingly digital world.
How can our universities rise to this challenge? The first step is acknowledging that classroom education alone is not enough to equip students with an all-rounded skillset that modern organizations require. Students need hands-on experience and deep practical experience to go with theoretical classroom teaching. Such an outcome requires universities to work with the broader ICT ecosystem to leverage the technical strengths that only tech companies can bring.
Among Pakistan Universities, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, was among the first ones to realize the power of partnerships to benefit our students and the broader economy. One of the university's strongest collaborations is with Huawei, whose partnership covers not only upgrading its computer training curriculum but also building a campus of the future.
UET Taxila hosts Huawei ICT Academy, a school-enterprise cooperation project created to help forge a deeper talent ecosystem. By strengthening the cooperation mechanism between universities and enterprises, Huawei helps universities cultivate ICT talent that meets industry requirements, providing high-quality talent for industry development. Today, Huawei ICT Training modules are part of the Computer and Telecom Curriculum at UET Taxila.
An advanced education curriculum should have a delivery environment to match. That is why UET Taxila has prioritized the building of a smart campus. The university's leadership again turned to Huawei to roll out an extensive Smart and Safe Campus Project based on Huawei ICT infrastructure. Thus, the Huawei Smart Classrooms at UET Taxila and partner institution Fatima Jinnah Women University has facilitated live video conference and online lecture broadcast and recording.
With this digital foundation in place, we are keen to support Pakistan's vision of building a knowledge-based economy. Putting in place an advanced ICT infrastructure is fundamental to this effort. The government has already implemented the policy framework to roll out 5G in preparation for its eventual launch by April 2023. Countries in our region where 5G has been deployed have already seen significant benefits. In Kuwait, one of the Middle East countries with the earliest and fastest 5G development, carriers have achieved 4% growth in revenue and 13% growth in profitability since rolling out 5G. Beyond connectivity, 5G will support the rise of vertical industries and support Pakistan Vision 2025. Currently, 5G use cases have been deployed in industries such as Digital Oil &Gas and Smart Port with highly encouraging results, and we expect to see 5G enabling more industries in the future.
But to successfully roll out 5G requires skills to match. Again, industry partnerships with technology providers will be crucial to training our youth on 5G. Huawei is ramping up 5G training in collaboration with universities where the technology is available, offering 5G training certificates and partnering on building innovative real-world projects in 5G.Additionally, Huawei's annual skills development initiatives, such as Seeds for the future, now offer students valuable opportunities to immerse themselves in cutting-edge ICT technologies such as 5G to gather experience through hands-on practice. Consequently, UET Taxila aims to embark on 5G test deployment and research in collaboration with Huawei as the technology is rolled out.
Rapid deployment of advanced technologies, however, comes with risks. This is not specific to Pakistan, but the world faces formidable cybersecurity threats due to the expanded threat landscape brought on by rapid digital transformation. Collaboration is vital in tackling cybercrime. A safer network is a shared obligation, and we are happy to see global technology firms such as Huawei working with educational institutions to train students on cybersecurity mitigation efforts
The Pakistan government shares our vision of collaborating far and wide for shared success. In a recent speech, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr ArifAlvi, commended Huawei Academy's partnership with about 80 different universities in Pakistan to nurture young talent. He noted the large number of students undergoing ICT training, praising global companies' efforts to create an ecosystem for harnessing talent.

“Pakistan became an independent state in 1947; but the
freedom struggle begins again today against a foreign conspiracy of regime
change. It is always the people of the country who defend their sovereignty and
democracy”- Imran Khan
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan was voted out of power, as 174 traitor members in the country's National Assembly sold themselves and went against him during the voting for no-confidence motion.
With effect of it
an imported government is going to establish, however against the wishes of the
entire population of Pakistan.
Imran Khan has become the first sitting prime minister in the history of Pakistan to be removed from office through a no-confidence motion, in-fact the foreign conspiracy, the involvement of personal stakes and no doubt money.
It is the first government that is being opposed by combine
seven opposition parties, so it was 7 vs 1, was it that powerful, that strong
that you all combined to beat one, the magnitude of intensity can be felt.
More to say, Imran Khan earlier tried to sidestep the vote by dissolving parliament and calling early elections, but dramatically a Supreme Court ruling ordered the vote to go ahead.
I have a question, who are
the judges to turn down the decision of Pakistan? We elected Khan, we consider
him as our leader, our Prime Minister, why the decision is taken away from our
hands, why the voting right never placed in hands of Pakistan? However, I know
the answer very well, the fear of America, the involvement of personal gains,
the lust of money and the BEGARATI.
Since, it has been confirmed by Imran Khan that, the
government received a message from America the only terrorist in the world,
through Pakistan's ambassador, which said “they would pardon Pakistan's all
misgivings if Imran Khan was ousted. If happened otherwise, Pakistan would have
to face difficulties”.
It is American change regime policy, because they have been
slapped by Khan’s “Absolutely Not”.
America was using Pakistan’s territory in the pretext of War
of Terror; however, the main purpose was setting its base for countering China
and Russia.
Khan angered West by making a Triple Alliance Pakistan,
China and Russia that’s no doubt the threat for them, since it would hinder
their power in the region.
Moreover, Imran Khan was representing as a unifier of Muslim
world, as we earlier had witnessed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
(OCI) conference held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on 22-23 March 2022, in which the
Ministers of Foreign Affairs and heads of Delegation of the Member States of
the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), participating in the 48th
Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers.
Guided by the noble injunctions of Islam and the Quranic
verse – “Hold firm to the rope of Allah collectively and create no dissensions”
and “The believers are naught else than brothers; therefore, make peace between
your brethren and fear Allah that happily ye may attain mercy”.
West can digest the Unity of Muslim World?
Moreover, Khan appeared as the advocate of Islam, combating against Islamophobia, Imran Khan addressed the United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York City, US, September 27, 2019.
"Terrorism has nothing to do with any
religion," he emphasized. The term, he noted, was "used by some leaders
[and] it has caused pain among the Muslims. Also, his "most critical"
of issues during the UNGA speech, was to draw the world's attention to the
emerging humanitarian crisis in Kashmir.
"This is the reason why I especially came here; it is
about what is happening in Kashmir”- Imran Khan.
He added, "I want to make one thing clear that when we
came to power, my first priority was that Pakistan would be a country that will
try its best to bring peace. We had been through this war on terror,"
This all was more than enough for the Terrorist America, and
their they decided for the Change Regime, since it was a clear sign of their
power slipping, hence they bribed the already corrupt opposition and the
institutions who are supposed to guard Pakistan; May Allah curse them.
The result of which we can see, a robber, a burglar, who’s
having a complete corrupt record had been placed as Pakistan’s head.
Dr. Allama Iqbal rightly said, "Mir Jafar o bengal Mir
sadiq o deccan nangedeen, nange adam, nangewatan".
These modern-day Mir Jafers sold Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, APR 10: Senior PTI leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has announced that his party would resign en masse from the National Assembly tomorrow (Monday), a day after former prime minister Imran Khan lost his government via a successful no-confidence move.
The decision to resign, he said, was tied up with the acceptance of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif's nomination papers for prime minister's elections, to which the PTI had raised objections. In a later development, the NA Secretariat rejected the objections and accepted Shehbaz's nomination.
Talking to the media in Islamabad with a host of other PTI leaders and officials, Chaudhry said a meeting of the PTI's central core executive committee (CEC) was held in Bani Gala with Imran Khan where "the whole situation was analysed".
He said the CEC recommended to Khan that the PTI should resign from the assemblies starting with the National Assembly. "If our objections on Shehbaz Sharif's [nomination] papers are not addressed then we will resign tomorrow," he said.
Elaborating on the PTI's decision to nominate its Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi for the prime minister's position after a successful vote of no-confidence against Khan, Chaudhry said that contesting the election offered the party a way to challenge Shehbaz's nomination papers.
He said it was a "great injustice" that Shehbaz would be contesting the election for the prime minister on the same day he is to be indicted in a money laundering case.
"What can be more insulting for Pakistan that a foreign selected and foreign imported government is imposed on it and a person like Shehbaz is made its head," he rued.
It is pertinent to mention that a special court (Central-I) of the Federal Investigation Agency is likely to indict Shehbaz and son Hamza in Rs14 billion money laundering case on Monday (April 11).
Referring to the situation around the successful no-trust vote, Chaudhry said that there were no "two opinions" in the PTI's CEC meeting that it was anything other than a "very big conspiracy".
"It was a foreign regime change operation that happened here," he said. "We think this is a slap on [the face of] people of Pakistan. We reject it. The whole nation expects leadership from Imran Khan and expects from PTI that they'll come out on streets [against] this foreign conspiracy."
On the PTI CEC and Imran Khan's behalf, he appealed to the public to come out and protest after Isha prayers in their respective district headquarters.
Chaudhry said that if the PTI "disappointed people" now and Khan did not lead a massive movement then it would amount to a "betrayal with the country's politics and Constitution". He said a fuller plan would be provided later and the country would move towards new elections in the next few weeks and months.
"Whoever has created this [political] crisis has engaged in enmity with the state. We think the crisis got more complicated due to the Supreme Court's decision," he said, referring to the apex court's Thursday order to restore the National Assembly and the no-confidence motion.
Referring to yesterday night's events when the Islamabad High Court and Supreme Court opened their gates late night, Chaudhry said that such activity was "immensely disliked" by the public, which was now expressing their opinion on social media about the events.
"Until we don't throw this government out and until it stays, no institution of Pakistan will have any sanctity," he added.
Questioned on the "trolling" of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and his family, allegedly at the hands PTI supporters, Chaudhry distanced himself from such elements, saying that the party had "no control over social media".
"We can only influence our known people and can't control everyone's mind so the people who have a problem that [trolling] is being done against them on social media, kindly don't blame us."
Awami Muslim League chief, Sheikh Rashid, a key ally of the PTI, who spoke before Chaudhry, was more direct in the resignations announcement.
"It has been decided that we can't be involved with these thieves and dacoits in the assembly. Everyone decided with a unanimous consensus that we are going to resign en masse from the NA," he said. "All members will resign."

Islamabad, APR 8: Prime Minister Imran Khan in an address to the nation on Friday said he accepts the Supreme Court's verdict issued a day ago.
"I am saddened by the verdict, but I accept it," the premier said.
He said the deputy speaker prorogued the assembly and set aside the no-confidence motion in light of Article 5 of the Constitution.
"There was foreign interference in Pakistan's no-confidence. I wanted the SC to at least looked at it, it was a very serious allegation that a foreign country wants to topple the government through a conspiracy."
The premier said he was at least expecting a probe by the SC.
"The SC could have at least asked for and looked at the document to gauge whether we're speaking the truth. I was a bit disappointed because this is a very big issue and there was no discussion on it in the SC."
PM Imran said he was also saddened at the haste with which the court made its decision.
He said open horse trading and "buying and selling of consciences of lawmakers" was going on in the country. "Every child knows the price at which consciences are being sold."
"What kind of democracy is this? Which democracy in the world allows this? And the biggest forum for justice, the judiciary, we expected it to take suo motu action if nothing else."
Yesterday, the apex court had in a 5-0 unanimous verdict set aside the April 3 ruling of National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri in which he dismissed the no-trust motion against the premier and also reversed the dissolution of the NA by the president on the PM's advice.
According to PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan, PM Imran was well aware of how to tackle the challenges thrown his way. "Apparently, the opposition thinks it has won but that is not so. They have lost," he said.
"Kaptaan will make an important announcement today. He will never disappoint the nation," he said.
As the opposition celebrated, the prime minister took to Twitter to announce that he had summoned a meeting of the federal cabinet for today and would also address the nation.
He said a meeting of the PTI's parliamentary committee would also be convened today and that he would "continue to fight for Pakistan till the last ball".

ISLAMABAD, APR 8: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that the government had decided to present the contents of the threat letter, which purportedly contains “evidence” of a foreign conspiracy hatched to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the National Assembly tomorrow and had also constituted a commission to probe the alleged conspiracy.
At a media talk after the federal cabinet meeting, he claimed that “original records of the cipher, only available with the government, would be kept in front of the parliament”.
“If, even after that, they [the opposition] wants to go with the no-confidence vote, then the people of Pakistan will decide who’s standing where,” Chaudhry said.

ISLAMABAD, APR 7: The Supreme Court has set aside deputy speaker's ruling to dismiss the no-trust resolution against Prime Minister Imran and the subsequent dissolution of the NA by the president on the PM's advice, with all five judges unanimously voting 5-0 against it.
The apex court ruled that President Dr Arif Alvi's decision to dissolve the National Assembly was "illegal" and restored Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as his cabinet.
The Supreme Court ordered for the session of the National Assembly to reconvene on Sunday at 10:30am. saying that the session cannot be adjourned without the conclusion of the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The verdict was to be announced at 7:30pm but it subject to an hour's delay. In anticipation of the verdict, security was beefed up at the SC premises with television footage showing riot police deployed outside the apex court.
Ahead of the verdict, the Supreme Court summoned Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, who arrived at the court with the watchdog's legal team.
A large number of lawyers, media personnel and politicians, including PML-N's Shehbaz Sharif and PPP's Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, were at the court ahead of the verdict.
Advocate Farooq H Naek, who represented the PPP in the case, was questioned by the media on what verdict he was expecting.
He said he expected the deputy speaker's ruling to be set aside. "The same way, [on the basis of] national importance, it seems that they (the judges) will suggest that election process has begun [so they should be allowed to continue]," Naek added.
A five-member bench headed by CJP Bandial and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail finished hearing the case earlier in the day.
Clear that deputy speaker's ruling is erroneous: CJP
Earlier, during the hearing, CJP Bandial said that it was clear that the April 3 ruling of National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri, which dismissed the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, was erroneous.
"The real question at hand is what happens next," he said, adding that now the PML-N counsel and the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan would guide the court on how to proceed.
"We have to look at national interest," he said, adding that the court would issue a verdict today.
