Pakistani woman achieves distinction at China Literature Festival

BEIJING, Nov 19 : A Pakistani woman Almas Ilyas won a prize of Highest Potential Overseas Author at the China Online International Literature Festival in Shanghai, Gwadar Pro reported on Thursday.

The Online literature is a distinguished form of literature which has prevailed in China in the past 15 years.

As online literature booming in the Chinese market, Webnovel (webnovel.com), a cross-platform Internet service aiming to bring online literature to the world, was launched by Tencent’s China Literature Group in Apr 2018.

Webnovel has attracted more than 100,000 overseas writers and published more than 160,000 online literature works.

Most of them are original authors from BRI countries, including Pakistan, Singapore, Philippines and Bangladesh and so on.

At the same time, China has exported more than 10,000 Chinese online literature works to more than 40 BRI countries.

Almas started her writing career in Dec 2018, “In the past two years, my novels have become very popular, and one of them has been read more than ten million times on Webnovel,” she said.

“Webnovel has changed my life completely. I not only got a platform to share my stories, but also found a way to communicate with my readers from around the world. Webnovel enabled me to be financially independent and realize my dream,” she added.

She also believed that online literature is a new way for communication between Pakistan and China. “People from Pakistan can understand Chinese culture better through thousands of stories. Webnovel has provided a good stage for Pakistanis to realize our dream.”

Cheng Wu, CEO of China Literature Group, Vice President of Tencent Group and CEO of Tencent Pictures, said that with the convenience of the Internet, online literature, due to its huge user base, rich themes and interactive co-creation, has endowed cultural communication with a bigger stage and richer connotations.

Yan Feng, professor at Fudan University, believes that online literature is a new cultural form embryo for mankind in the future.

Through online literature, people create a universe, a new world and an imaginary community, which goes beyond the limit of time and space, he added.

Pakistani students attend World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference


BEIJING, Nov 18  – Pakistani students attended the World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference (WICV) and the China International New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles Exhibition (IEEVChina) that were held here, Gwadar Pro reported on Wednesday.


Pakistani students of North China Electric Power University (NECPU) visited the exhibition and learnt about advanced techniques such as automatic driving technique and 5G.

Muhammad Nasir, one of the Pakistani students, believed that 5G and intelligent connected vehicles are able to change Pakistan, even the world. He said, “Baidu Autmatic Self Drive Car is totally according to new energy intelligent connected vehicles.

Baidu company said that this car will soon be on the roads in China. I think these advanced techniques will make our life easy and save time.”

Students summarized that new energy vehicles and intelligent connected automobile industry are still in its infancy in Pakistan.

“However, our nation badly needs to thrive in this industry, both in terms of sustainability and traffic problems. In this field, the cooperation between Pakistan and China enjoys a rosy prospect under CPEC frame.”

China has been leading the world in this field, and will further boost the development of intelligent connected automobile industry in the future.

“China will take intelligent connected vehicles as an important strategic direction for the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry.

Deepening international communication and cooperation is one of the most necessary respects we need,” Xiao Yaqing, the Minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, said at the opening ceremony of WICV.

BEIJING, NOV 12 - Knot art of Pakistani national flower displayed at the ongoing China Knot Art Exhibition in Beijing, Gwadar Pro reported on Thursday.


At the exhibition, mainly knot arts of national flowers of BRI countries, weaved by Chinese traditional artists, are on display. Jasmine as Pakistani national flower is the main exhibit.

Knot art originated from 4,000 years ago and has shined in Chinese traditional culture. “Weaving Pakistani national flower with traditional Chinese handicraft is a union between the cultures of the two countries.

Our traditional craftsmen pay tribute to the friendship between Pakistan and China in the form of art,” said Zhang Lei, speaker of the exhibition organizer.

Yang Feixue, the Curator of Datong Costume Culture and History Museum, introduced jasmine means affablility and elegance, “weaving it with knot art also expresses our recognition of the characters of Pakistani people.”

“The birth of a knot art work needs to go through 28 complicated processes. It took craftsmen several months to weave the knot art work of jasmine.

This traditional handicraft is on the verge of extinction, thus we want to record the friendship between Pakistan and China with it,” Yang said.

She added, weaving and displaying the BRI national flower series aims to link Chinese traditional culture with world culture, let Chinese intangible cultural heritage go abroad, and express our best wishes to the harmonious development of all countries.

Relations between China and Pakistan exceptional, says Ambassador


Completion of 1st phase of the CPEC would open new avenues of development for the people of the region, says Chinese Ambassador


ISLAMABAD, NOV 11 – Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that Pakistan is proud of its all-weather unique friendship and strategic partnership with China. He said that completion of CPEC would help Pakistan to achieve its economic and industrial goals. He said that present government is committed to take that exemplary relation to new heights.


The Speaker said this while talking to Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong who called on him at Parliament House.

Ambassador Mr. Nong Kong said that relations between two countries were exceptional and gaining strength with the passage of time. He said that cooperation between China and Pakistan was clear depiction of the commitment of leadership of both the countries towards each other. The Ambassador said that completion of 1st phase of the CPEC would open new avenues of development for the people of the region. 

He informed that with the advent of 2nd Phase of the CPEC, socio-economic, industrialization, agriculture and scientific and technological sectors would be focused. He added that the completion of CPEC would change the destiny of the region and would unleash a new era of Pak-China relations.

While talking to the Ambassador, the Speaker said China and Pakistan have cherished vibrant, friendly relations spreading over decades. He said that those ties were based on regional development, mutual trust, trade and economic cooperation.

He added that the cooperation between both countries was rapidly expanding. He said that Pakistan confidently counts on Chinese support at international and regional forums. He underlined the need for cementing parliamentary contacts for further cementing those ties.

He asked the Ambassador to convey his good wishes to the Chairman of the Chinese National People’s Congress and to reiterate invitation already extended to him to visit Pakistan. The Speaker also wished good luck to the Ambassador Nong Rong on his ambassadorial assignment to Pakistan.

While discussing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Speaker said CPEC was a game changer not only for both the countries but also for the whole region. He said that it would significantly contribute in brining socio-economic development in Pakistan.

He said that Parliament out rightly stands with the CPEC, therefore a series of seminars had been arranged to mobilize stakeholders, intelligentsia and other segments of society to increase effectiveness to the project. He invited Chinese Ambassador to attend a Seminar being organized by Parliamentary Committee on CPEC in Peshawar on 13th November.

Referring to the inauguration of the recently completed Rashakai Special Economic Zone project, the Speaker said that it will prove a milestone in the industrial development of the country. The Speaker informed that Prime Minister of Pakistan will inaugurate the Special Economic Zone on 21st November, 2020.

Later, Chinese Ambassador called on Chairman Parliamentary Committee on CPEC Mr. Sher Ali Arbab. Discussion between them mainly focused the measures to enhance cooperation between two countries. It was agreed that the suggestions put forth by the Chinese government regarding areas under collaboration would be forwarded to the concerned forums. The Ambassador apprised the Chairman about the work on prioritized special economic zones in Pakistan.
