BREAKING NEWS | Ludovic Orban: I am ending my term as prime minister

BREAKING NEWS | Ludovic Orban: I am ending my term as prime minister

BUCHAREST, DEC 7 - On Monday evening, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban made a statement at Victoria Palace, on the basis of the information according to which he would intend to submit his mandate. The reaction of the incumbent prime minister came an hour after the press statement made by President Klaus Iohannis , with whom he had previously had a meeting.

Ludovic Orban's main statements:

  • We need a responsible government.
  • I'm not clinging to the post of prime minister.
  • I end my term as prime minister after a year and a month in which Romania faced an extremely difficult period.

The initial news. The executive recently announced that Ludovic Orban will give a press statement at 19:00 at Victoria Palace.

The announcement comes amid reports that the chief executive intends to resign.

The information comes in the conditions in which PNL obtained a lower score than expected in Sunday's parliamentary elections, and in a few days, once the election results are validated, negotiations for the formation of a new Government begin, after a parliamentary majority coagulates.

President Klaus Iohannis admitted on Monday that the low turnout could have been caused by the fact that many people are simply dissatisfied - with him, the parties, the entire political class or certain measures that have been taken.

Also on Monday, Iohannis stressed that the election results show that there is no clear winner of these elections, and if we look at the provisional results at the moment we see that PNL in 2016 obtained 20%, now it has obtained 25%, so a clear increase. USR, meanwhile, together with PLUS obtained 8% in 2016, meanwhile they have 15%, obviously an increase, and PSD, which had obtained 45%, dropped dramatically to 29%.

He specified that a center-right coalition is crystallizing that will be able to propose a coalition government and announced that in a few days he will convene consultations with the parties that won seats in the new Parliament.

On Tuesday, at 17:00, the president would meet with liberal leaders and members of the government.

Massive absenteeism of young people to vote. What does the percentage look like?

Massive absenteeism of young people to vote. What does the percentage look like?

More than 4.6 million young people aged between 18 and 34 are on the permanent lists of the BEC. Of these, only 1.18 million voted on Sunday, December 6th.

This means that only 25.39% of them got to vote. Therefore, 3,478,386 young people did not come to vote in Romania. The number of young voters represents 20.43% of the total number of those who voted in the country on Sunday, writes.

83,120 young people voted in the diaspora, representing about a third of the total number of voters from abroad.

It is the lowest turnout of young people in the country in the last four years, with five elections. Attendance at the Parliament is traditionally low, but the turnout of young people has been 6% lower than at the 2016 Parliament.

Compared to the September local elections, where there were 1.8 million young people , 620 thousand of them were absent from this election.

The presence of young people between 18-34 years old, broken down by sex, shows that women were more absent from voting than men, if we refer to the permanent electoral lists. Specifically, only 562,841 women came to the polls, out of the 2.2 million registered. That means 24.79%.

By age groups, at national level, young people who have not yet reached the age of 25 were 80% absent: out of 1,606,921 people, only 443,223 (20.06%) voted.

And between 25 and 34 years old, only 24.24% participated in the vote.

Most young people voted in the Capital and the counties with university cities, Iași, Cluj, Timiș, on the last places of the list being the counties of Brăila, Ialomița, Covasna and Tulcea.

Who is George Simion, the leader of the extremists from AUR. Nationalism to Russia's liking

Who is George Simion, the leader of the extremists from AUR. Nationalism to Russia's liking

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party, which obtained a score of over 8%, according to centralized data after counting 95% of the votes , was founded by George Simion, known as the initiator of the "Action 2012" platform. union with the Republic of Moldova.

Among the ideas for which George Simion militatively declares are many sensitive historical themes from the classical nationalist panoply, but their way of promotion, aggressive, conflictual and provocative, fits perfectly with the manual techniques of destabilizing Romania, promoted by the Kremlin regimes, in the last hundred years. An eloquent example is the confrontations in Valea Uzului, which George Simion initiated and which brought to mind the violent incidents in Târgu Mureș, in March 1990.

Coupling nationalist themes with protests against anti-COVID restrictions imposed by the authorities and a strident Russian-inspired "religious freedom" speech seem to confirm fears that the GOLD is, if not initiated, at least supported by the Putin regime. In addition to the outspoken support of Sputnik, Russia's propaganda organ, it is worth noting that Moscow has long openly acknowledged that it agrees with Romania's union with Moldova, in its terms, which include the official abandonment of Transnistria. .

George Simion also ran as an independent in the 2019 European elections, under the slogan "Greater Romania in Europe". On January 12, 2019, the politician announced, at the presentation of the candidacy, that he will bring to the public's attention topics that he considers of national interest: the union of Bessarabia with Romania, protecting the rights of Romanians in historical communities, supporting Romanians in Harghita and Covasna counties, capitalizing on the potential of the diaspora and counteracting what he calls the "mafia system" which he considers to be blocking the development of Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

In October 2016, George Simion, the leader of the march for the unification of Bessarabia with Romania, was detained after trying to force the gendarmerie cordon. He became a controversial figure, suspected of political sympathies and electoral games on both banks of the Prut, notes Adevarul.

George Simion was born in Focsani, on September 21, 1986. He was a student of the Faculty of Administration and Business at the University of Bucharest, then moved to Iasi, where he defended a master's degree in history at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University.

He distinguished himself as the leader of the "New Golan" group, which was intended to be a continuation of the 1990 street movement in University Square. Together with the "New Golans", George Simion introduced the message "Bessarabia is Romania" among the football galleries.

In May 2015, George Simion was declared undesirable for a period of 5 years in the Republic of Moldova, by a decision of the Migration and Asylum Bureau, being expelled from the country. In September 2015, the Chisinau Court of Appeal ruled that there was no reason for Simion to be declared ungrateful.

George Simion was one of the most vocal voices in the Hungarian-Romanian dispute. He was involved in clashes at the Valului Uzului cemetery, where he led nationalist protesters.

After announcing the exit-poll estimates, after the elections of December 6, 2020, George Simion said:

"It is a great victory that we manage to achieve one year after the existence of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians. It is announced to be a very good result, we took over the 500,000 votes that we proposed and which should ensure our entry in the Parliament, if the whole electoral process is carried out properly. Congratulations to hundreds of thousands of supporters. (…) It is a future victory that will belong to you. It is a victory for the Romanian people. (…) We will not disappoint you, we will not betray, we will not enter, in any of the variants, in any governing coalition, we are the people of the facts. We are the people who promised not to see any difference between Klaus Iohannis' parties and Marcel Ciolacu's parties. "

According to him, the AUR representatives who will enter the Parliament will vote for each initiative "in the interest of the Romanian people".

Who is the lawyer Șoșoacă, who entered the Senate on behalf of AUR?

BUCHAREST, DEC 7 - Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă will be, according to the results of Sunday's election, one of the new parliamentarians of the next four years, she will run from AUR for a senator seat.

The Covid-19 pandemic helped Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă to gain notoriety on the Internet and to get involved in politics, criticizing the measures taken by the authorities in the context of the pandemic.

Among the decisive moments in gaining the sympathy of some voters were the bans imposed on the pilgrimage by St. Parascheva, from Iasi, but also the offensive of His Eminence Theodosius against similar measures on the pilgrimage to St. Andrew. In fact, he also represented the Constanta hierarch in court, when he tried to obtain the lifting of the restrictions in the county.

But Diana Iovanovici-Șoșoacă's public outings cover a wider range of topics specific to those aired by Russian propaganda - from conspiracies to Romania's colonial status.

AUR, the extremist party that is the big surprise of Sunday's parliamentary elections, is supported from the shadows, among others, by the millionaire Bobby Păunescu.
